Themes of Books

I identify themes in the book by the character actions and thoughts. I might also consider the series of event to help find the theme. I think understanding themes is important because you can connect it to other situations in life. Themes help you get the big idea of the whole entire book. Also themes can help you understand the world better and the book to. Other places I see themes are speeches in which they are trying to get a message to you. A theme that has been meaningful to me from my reading is don't fear you own powers, and instead use it for the greater good.

Highlights/Lowlights of Reading

I think reading books, articles, and essays was fairly valuable to me. I hate reading and still do and think it is a pain. At least though I learned some new words I didn't understand before. I learned some literary devices like symbols or motifs. Also I learned how identify themes much easier, and all these lessons are valuable to me. The lowlights of reading this year was that it took too much of my time. I had a hard time picturing in my head what I was reading so I couldn't understand a book much. I consider reading as boring because most books or articles don't have pictures in it.

Third Reading Book

The book I read was a manga about Tim Duncan. He is a professional basketball player that plays in the NBA, and won two championship rings. The book wasn't very interesting because it didn't had any climax, just a lot of facts. I think I wouldn't read this book because it has no beginning to ending actions, it wasn't much of a story. Also the cartoon characters in the book wasn't funny at all. I would read a book that probably has some actions in it with a climax like a chapter book. Chapter books I would probably read are probably like Goosebumps because the book are easy to understand and follow through the entire book, and I can do a reading journal on them. What I have learned from my two other reading books is new vocabulary words and learning themes.
